Organization: ABODE Contemplative Care for the Dying
Location: on site at facility, in and around San Antonio, TX
Reports to: Board of Directors
Position Overview
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will be the key management leader and the chief culture advocate of ABODE. The CEO will be responsible for overseeing the administration and programs. With the board of directors, the CEO will guide the strategic direction of the organization. Other key duties include board engagement, fundraising, marketing, and community outreach.
Key Responsibilities
- Board Engagement and Governance:
- Act as the principal liaison between the Board of Directors and the organization’s operations.
- Engage with the Board to support strategic planning, policy formulation, and oversight.
- Ensure timely and comprehensive communication to the Board regarding the status of operations, financial health, and strategic direction.
- With board support, prepare materials for Board meetings, attend all Board meetings, providing support in board development and recruitment.
- Organizational Leadership and Management:
- Lead, coach, develop, and retain a high-performance senior management team.
- Oversee the establishment of an effective division of labor within the organization.
- Foster a positive and inclusive organizational culture that encourages staff and volunteer engagement and retention.
- Implement policies and procedures that ensure the organization operates in a legally and ethically compliant manner.
- Employee and Volunteer Management:
- Oversee hiring, onboarding, and professional development of all staff members.
- Develop and maintain a robust volunteer program to leverage community resources effectively.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, providing constructive feedback and opportunities for growth.
- Financial Management:
- Oversee the financial status of the organization including developing long and short-range financial plans, monitoring the budget, and ensuring sound financial controls.
- Ensure the preparation and timely delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports to the Board.
- Work with the finance committee to ensure the organization is financially sound and operates within its budget.
- Fundraising and Revenue Development:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan to diversify and strengthen the organization’s revenue streams.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with major donors, foundations, corporate sponsors, and other funding entities.
- Oversee the planning and execution of fundraising events, grant writing, and other revenue-generating activities.
- Establish and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy.
- Community Relations and Partnership Development:
- Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization, promoting its mission and programs to external stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key community partners, government agencies, and other nonprofits to advance the organization’s mission.
- Represent the organization at public events, conferences, and meetings.
- Program Development and Management:
- Develop a clear program structure that aligns with the organization’s strategic goals and fosters growth and innovation.
- Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the organization’s programs and services.
- Ensure mission related programs are meeting the needs of the community and are delivered with high quality and impact.
- Compliance and Risk Management:
- Assure the organization complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Oversee risk management strategies and processes to protect the organization’s assets and reputation.
- Develop and implement requisite crisis management plans.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of senior nonprofit management experience.
- Proven success in board engagement, financial management, fundraising, and community relations.
- Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation.
- Excellent interpersonal, public speaking, technology, and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff and volunteers.
Compensation:
- Salary commensurate with experience. Proposed Range: $95,000 – $120,000
