Join Karen Ivy, Director of Career Services at Texas A&M University-San Antonio, as she discusses how connecting your talent, passion, and skills can assist with adapting to professional growth and transitions.
Karen Ivy, Director of Career Services at Texas A&M University-San Antonio, has served in this position since May 2018. She has 14 years in the field of Career Services with focuses in program development for both students and staff that bolster career growth and advancement.
She is a member of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), Southern Association of Colleges and Employers (SoACE), and locally, South Texas Alliance of Career Champions (STACC). She currently volunteers as a leader for the SOACE Admin Knowledge Group and is chair of the Professional Development Committee within the Student Success and Engagement Division at A&M-SA.
Karen is a Past-President of SACUCCA (now STACC), is a certified Professional Etiquette Trainer, and has earned her Global Career Development Facilitator Certification through NCDA. She also serves as a Steering Committee member of the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's Briseno Leadership Development Program.
ABLDP is a seven-month program that provides participants with the skills to succeed in today’s working environment. The program provides networking and learning opportunities with existing and emerging civic and corporate leaders in the San Antonio area, as well as promoting leadership on boards and commissions.
The program is named after retired City Manager Alexander Briseño and is grounded in his leadership philosophy “Gerencia Con Corazon,” practice management with compassion/heart, as well as his leadership principles: Judgement, Compassion, Courage, Integrity, Creativity, Passion, Vision, Competency, Diligence, and Accessibility.
